Thompson of Heritage Preservation draw MayDay winners.

The 2009 Atlantic Coast hurricane season is underway, but its not too late
to put preparedness plans in place. The season, which began June 1, is
expected to peak in August and September. Experts predict at least nine named
storms and 4 hurricanes.
The Heritage Emergency National Task Force can help you prepare for any
emergency – including the floods, fires, and earthquakes that threaten year–
round. The Task Force Web site and Heritage Preservations current programs
offer inspiration and tips for safeguarding collections.
MayDay Prize Winners Take Simple Steps to Prepare
Two museums, a state library, and a regional conservation center shared

 The Conservation Assessment Program
2010 Conservation Assessment Program Applications Available September 4
CAP funds a professional collections assessment for small to mid-sized
museums of all types, at a minimal cost. In addition, CAP funds historic
buildings assessments for museums with buildings that are 50 years or older. The
assessment process helps museum professionals better understand and
improve their institutions policies and procedures, learn conservation and
historic preservation best practices, and forge relationships with conservators
and preservation architects. The resulting CAP report can help develop
strategies for improved collections care, long-range planning, staff and board
education, and fund-raising. To read more, _click here_
