We¡¯ve got 50 H.K. Coale specimens, dating from 1875-1899, from the US Midwest (most from Illinois, which would support his residence there) and east and west coasts, as well as Brazil, Ecuador/Peru, Turkey, Belgium (apparently some museum exchanges there), Austria/Hungary, England, Australia, and Borneo.

According to our registration files, Henry K. Coale appears to have been an actively contributing bird specimens to the USNM collections from about 1880s to 1920s. His address is variously listed as Chicago or Highland Park, Illinois. The address listed seems to be a personal address, not the address of any sort of company.

Subject: [NHCOLL-L:4740] Label H.K.Coale
Dear all,
I have some birds with a label from "Collection H. K. Coale - Chicago" . Who is this man, an ornithologist or a merchant? What are his date of birth and dead?
For example, I have a specimen "¡á/N¡ã9266 - Parus rufescens neglectus (R)/Loc. Santa Cruz Cal. sept. 4-1896". What is this number 9266 ? Is it seems this specimen was publisched or is it just a field number ?
