How you seal the jars all depends on what kind of jars and lids do you
have.  By "plug type lid" do you mean a stopper?  The correct terminology
for containers and closures is detailed in "Herpetological Collections and
Collections Management" (1987) if you need to check, or better yet, could
you post a photo of one of the jars you need to seal showing the jar and the
lid?
