Hello there,
I’m hoping that some of you using thermal transfer printers for
printing labels from roll stock can advise me on solutions to a problem
that we have been experiencing. We here in Ichthyology at the Royal
Ontario Museum have been using the Datamax W‑6308 printer with the
museum tag roll stock obtained from Alphasystems. We print labels
directly from Microsoft Access 2002-2003 using a
report. Recently, for an unknown reason , the printer has been doubling
the size of the label from 3.5 inches to 7”. I contacted Datamax
technical support to discuss this issue and sent them files created by
specifying “print to file”. The customer service representative said
there was nothing wrong with the file and mentioned that Seagull was
aware of a problem with their driver that doubles the size of the
label.

To solve this issue I am considering purchasing a labeling program such
as Bartender that can interact with our Access database. Does anyone out
there have any suggestions as to the best program to use for printing
labels from an Access Database.

Incidentally, I have been following the jar sealing and preservation
threads and have found the comments very helpful. Thank you.
