Dear Colleague,
Heritage Preservation is pleased to invite you to join us in launching the
_Connecting to Collections Online Community_
(http://heritagepreservation.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=00cbcc194404641e545c4b972&id=33406abf6e&e=2
209f40f73) . We are writing you as a past participant in IMLS Connecting
to Collections events and/or Bookshelf. The Community has been designed to
continue connecting museums, libraries, archives, and historical societies
with reliable preservation information and resources.
We know how many responsibilities you have and how helpful it can be to
network with conservation professionals and colleagues, especially when a
concern arises about your collection and you need answers quickly. The C2C
Online Community features a:
* _Discussion Board_

community members can post questions and assist one another;
* _Featured Resource_

the best preservation resources as well as to archived C2C presentations. As
participation in the C2C Online Community gains momentum, we will archive
past discussions here as well.
* _Calendar_

of upcoming training programs, grant deadlines, or other events in the
preservation field; and

registration--just check the calendar of Upcoming Events and join the online chat as
you are able.
On Monday, June 6 at 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, the C2C Online
Community will host an Open House in the Meeting Room. We look forward to

The C2C Online Community has excellent networking and information sharing
potential. We look forward to having you join the site and help shape its
development. Heritage Preservation is launching the site with professionals
that have been involved with C2C, and we look forward to a full launch to
the entire field later this summer.

its events.
Keep in mind that this site is a source for conservation information
rather than advice. Although we will have conservators participating in the
conversation, it is not ethical for them to provide treatment advice without
first having examined the object or situation in person. We hope that
participants will share their experiences with caring for objects, but note that
it is recommended that you contact a professional conservator before
undertaking a conservation project. The _American Institute for Conservation_
