Subject: HENTF National Preparedness Month Activities
Greetings to all,
As you are probably aware, September is National Preparedness Month. Hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, and even rare earthquakes affecting much of the US are all reminders that preparedness should be an ongoing and important activity of any organization. FEMA’s Ready.gov Web site has resources for joining in Preparedness Month activities, with the goal of encouraging Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, and communities.
In the spirit of preparedness, join Lori Foley, Vice President for Emergency Programs at Heritage Preservation, and Dan Kochensparger, Public Information Officer for the Upper Arlington (Ohio) Fire Division, today Thursday, September 8 at 2:00 pm EDT, for a free webinar about working with emergency responders in your community. The webinar is part of Heritage Preservation’s public launch of the Connecting to Collections (C2C) Online Community at www.connectingtocollections.org. The Community’s goal is to help smaller museums, libraries, archives, and historical societies locate reliable preservation resources and engage with each other and top professionals in the field. Heritage Preservation moderates the Connecting to Collections Online Community in cooperation with the American Association for State and Local History and with funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Also in honor of National Preparedness Month, RescuingRecords.com is offering 15% off the respected Implementing the Incident Command System at the Institutional Level: A Handbook for Libraries, Museums, and Cultural Institutions, and 20% off the tabletop exercises "Flood" and "Tornado." The Journal of Homeland Security and Emergency Management touted the ICS manual as “easy to read, nonthreatening, bereft of jargon” and “timeless.” Visit RescuingRecords.com to learn more and take advantage of the discounted prices!
