Purpose of this Position
The primary purpose of the position is to support an Early Career Researcher to initiate and undertake a biodiversity, systematics and/or conservation research project investigating Victorian and/or Australian birds. The successful applicant will work closely with, and be mentored by, Museum Victoria senior research scientists.

Duties
1. Pursue individual and collaborative ornithology research of high quality consistent with making a full active research contribution to the department, research and conservation management sectors, and the broader public.
2. Attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and contribute to the external visibility of Museum Victoria and the supporting funding organisations.
3. Organise and undertake relevant fieldwork, working with other MV staff and overseeing/supervising postgraduate students in the section.
4. Conduct analyses and prepare data that will contribute to productive research findings.
5. Participate in public and education engagement projects, particularly in wetlands including the Williamson Foundation Heart Morass wetlands recovery project in Gippsland, Victoria.
6. Comply with Museum Victoria's policies and procedures and with relevant legislation and regulations.
