CT’s Online Communities Are Growing Fast

Collection Trust’s online communities are expanding fast. More than 3,500 subscribers have registered for the Collections Link website<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?CollectionsTrust/30bca2c371/f95f1ebfd3/aaa7302cfd> - up 75% in the past year. Meanwhile, CT’s Collections Management LinkedIn Group<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?CollectionsTrust/30bca2c371/f95f1ebfd3/17d6589693/gid=3280471&trk=hb_side_g> now has 3,600 members - a rise of 180% on 2011. Together they make up an increasingly significant and influential group of collections professionals.

Collections Link provides its members with access to high-quality content, an eNewsletter, and 65 special discussion groups. Latest survey results show 95% of respondents rate the site’s information “Useful” or “Very Useful” while 87% rate its content “Good” or “Excellent”. CT LinkedIn members are extremely active with more than 200 discussions started in the past year.

What’s in Your Museum’s Emergency Kit?

Doug deFors, Collections Manager at the Marin History Museum in San Francisco, asked the Collections LinkedIn community this week what he should include in his museum’s Disaster Preparedness Kit. Museums Showoff is Back
Announcing the autumn season of Museums Showoff, where people who work in and love museums get to show us why in 9 minutes in any way they like. The organisers explain:

"We’ve already enjoyed talks, comedy sets, videos, sketches, music, history lessons, handling collections and all sorts of exciting things. But we want more!

We’ve arranged two London dates – September 27 and November 15 - in a new home (The Wilmington Arms, EC1). We’re also heading over to Brighton for a bit of fun by the sea on September 20."
