Dear Colleagues in Science,

First, our apologies for any cross postings, as many of us at the Canadian Museum of Nature (CMN) are engaged in soliciting your input and advice, to help us validate the importance of several features that we wish to incorporate into a new collections search tool.

As Canada's national museum of natural sciences, the CMN is working with eSolutionsGroup<http://esolutionsgroup.ca/en/> to develop an Internet-based dynamic database and search tool which will provide access to the digitized records associated with 10 million scientific specimens in our collections of plants animals minerals and fossils. The same database will also act as a reference point for other collection search initiatives such as the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).
