POSITION AVAILABLE:  Assistant Director of Public Programs-Administrator III

SALARY:  $60,000 - $75,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for the planning, development, and management of all museum Public Programs including Exhibits and Education, Outreach and the ExplorOlogy Program.  Assumes responsibility for the museum in the director's absence.



REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Responsible for long range, strategic, and financial planning and development of all museum Public Programs;  Supervises daily operations and management of Exhibits, Education, Outreach and ExplorOlogy Program including personnel;  Prepares and administers all budgets for Public Program areas;  Works with Collections and Research staff in exhibits and program planning.

Develops, writes and administers grant proposals; seeks funding sources; assists in developing income generating programs;  Initiates and develops cooperative and collaborative programs with departments, offices, agencies, organizations, communities and others;  Assists the director in overall program planning and development;  May represent the museum to University administrators, legislators, special interest groups, donors and the general public;  Serves as liaison and contact for professional museum organizations such as the American Association of Museums;  Monitors programs and seeks information regarding professional standards and trends in the museum field;  Assists the director and staff in the development of procedures, guidelines, and policies.
