[Nhcoll-l] Whale bones

Hello all;

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for removing molt and dirt /dust from whale bones?  They are from as recent as 30 years and as old as 150 years.  We do not know how they were originally prepped, probably by being buried in sand/dirt.  Most likely not manure.
