[Nhcoll-l] Cabinets + haz mat disclosure

Friendly reminder (to all of us really) on old cases: please include to the new owners a hazard communication description of whether the cabinets:

1. May have lead-based paint coatings (not a problem for sale or use but new users should be aware to protect themselves and their floors in case they want to drill etc to change out locks; plus you do not want to give/sell LBP cabinets to children's museums since old cabinets invariably peel and chip away) OR

2. Contain residual particulate chemicals (rare in paleo collections I think) or held radioactive paleo collections. Again, a HEPA vacuum can help abate the residuals, and the radiation is probably not a big deal but you may want to just verify that for their record. OR

3. Have pesticide (arsenic) treated felt gaskets even if your collection never needed that.

Happy to discuss this off-line.

Subject: [Nhcoll-l] Cabinets

Folks,

We have a number of old collection cabinets for sale cheap. These are the same as the ones we sold a few years ago, which were snapped up by museums in the USA and abroad (I can provide references). They are roughly seven feet high, four feet wide and two feet deep; have two doors, with a working lock; consist of a spot-welded steel casing with a fabricated plywood/metal interior, and hold between 68 and 74 drawers each, in two stacks. We sell them with 40 drawers per unit; drawers are made of wood, with Masonite bottoms.

Please contact me off-line for pictures and more details.
