For two years, Heritage Preservation has been working with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) to host the Connecting to Collections Continuing Conversation Exchanges.

The Exchanges were designed to help recipients of Connecting to Collections Statewide Planning and Implementation Grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) share the results of their projects and learn from each other. A recent Exchange took place in early October at the AASLH Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City. The meeting was attended by 76 project representatives from 44 states and the Federated States of Micronesia. Fourteen states presented their projects and discussed regional approaches to improving collections care, innovative methods for conducting disaster drills, replicable tools developed through Connecting to Collections grants, and effective outreach programs that are reaching the smallest and most far-flung museums and libraries. Recordings of several presentations, PowerPoint presentations, and handouts are available on the C2C Continuing Conversation Exchanges website<http://heritagepreservation.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=00cbcc194404641e545c4b972&id=9c33c7dbb0&e=5732b353ec>.

During a lunch break, additional states featured their activities and publications during a poster session. The group also had an opportunity to visit local Salt Lake City sites, including a new facility and conservation lab at the LDS Church History Library and the historic Alta Club. Eileen Hallet Stone, a Utah oral historian whose work has relied on collections throughout the state, served as the keynote speaker.
