Dear all,

A demand from my colleague:

I would like to know if a neotype of the name of a taxon could be chosen among the specimens of a taxon which is a heterotypic synonym? For example, can we designate the epitype of the binomial combination "Ab" by the name "Cd" if Ab and Cd are synonyms (here, heterotypic synonyms)? I can't find the article in the International Code of Nomenclature for botany (Melbourne Code).
