Greetings fellow preparators and fossil conservators,

I want to alert everyone that the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum is advertising to hire TWO (2) people to dismantle, conserve and house our fossil collections that are coming off exhibit and going back into our collections. The ad just opened on the 22nd, and closes Aug 29th. You can find it here: https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/379000400

**The window of applying is very short! **

The bulk of the work will revolve around our fossil vertebrates, but there will be inverts, plant slabs, etc. that will need archival housing, too. You will also work with our skilled volunteer corps in our FossiLab. These are Federal positions, so unfortunately only open to US citizens, at a GS-7 Step 1 level (around $42K/ year with benefits) for 13 months. We are applying for more grants to extend the positions for another 13 months. All pertinent info will be on the job announcement.

To those who applied for our last position last month (remounting): please consider applying for these conservation housing positions, too! We were only able to hire one person last time out of the many who applied.

Good luck!
Steve
