Hi All,

Thought many of you might be interested in the EU Collections
Competencies Project. They are looking at development of (quote):
> universal competencies for collections management to institutions
> across the EU to help organisations to:
>
>  1. identify the competencies required for particular roles;
> 2. identify individuals' levels of competence; and
> 3. identify the vocational and educational training (VET) needed to
> address missing/weak competencies.

Right now, there's a broad request (Europe and beyond) for feedback
about training for those who work in NHCs.
> Do You Work With a Natural History Collection? We Need Your Help!
>
> If you know of any training directly aimed at people who care and conserve Natural History collections, and you have not already responded, the EUColComp Project invites you to contribute to a Training Needs Analysis by completing this questionnaire<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?CollectionsTrust/2cfcbfe496/49875ca934/c689b0509f> (French version available here<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?CollectionsTrust/2cfcbfe496/49875ca934/69b8b29c2d>).
>
> EUColComp is a two year EU-funded project, co-ordinated by the Natural History Museum, under the Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation Programme. The questionnaire is part of an analysis being carried out by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences and the results will be used to develop a 'Vocational Education and Training' curriculum to assist staff in developing appropriate competencies.

FYI: I read about this on the GCG Listserve
(GEO-CURATORS at JISCMAIL.AC.UK), and it was posted to their list from
someone who is a member of the Collections Trust
(http://www.collectionstrust.org.uk/).

Do we have this data for US Collections Staff? Did you take this survey?
Is the survey focus on training for care of the physical collections
only? Or does the scope include training for care of the digital
collections?
