Dear all,
We are looking for a material to use in substitute of standard UV film for glass cases and windows. I have been researching 'nano surface protection coatings' and have been pleased to discover they have already been applied in the conservation of buildings, metals and even textiles! This material can basically be engineered to have whatever qualities you require, such as UV filtration, IR reduction and even be self-cleaning! You can even apply it yourself. It all sounds too good to be true! Here is the website of one company who manufactures this product if you really must read to believe. http://www.liquidglassshield.com/
We're trying to find other institutions/museums/galleries that have applied it and can give us some recommendations. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of material? Do you know any institutions who have applied it in any capacity?
What would you recommend for filtering windows?
Many thanks and all the best,
Bethany Palumbo
