Herbarium Collections and Outreach Administrator
Botanical Science - Position Application Number: S-1755

The Herbarium Collections and Outreach Administrator will manage the Garden's Visiting Scientist program, oversee documentation and distribution of NYBG staff collections and administer the Herbarium's quickly growing volunteer program.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Assist in the orientation of Herbarium visitors
·         Administer the Herbarium's volunteer program
·         Manage and process incoming new collections
·         Oversee distribution of duplicate specimens to sister herbaria
·         Number, digitize, and file newly mounted specimens as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

M.S. in Botany or Biology preferred
Experience with herbarium management and curation
Experience with specimen digitization and curation techniques
Knowledge of plant taxonomy and nomenclature
Familiarity with science/museum volunteers preferred
Familiarity with Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
