To all SPNHC members

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT OFFERS ON THIS LIBRARY IS TONIGHT ST MIDNIGHT! See below

I have been tasked with the distribution of a fairly large private marine biology and freshwater/ land mollusks library to be sold in sections in silent auction at BY TONIGHT MIDNIGHT (sorry for the last minute post- this has already been announced elsewhere but not too SPNHC until now). The book list is only being distributed to scientists/ naturalists in the hopes that the material actually goes to someone who can use it. The library has over 675 items and has been divided into collections representing THREE general subject areas: (1)
FRESHWATER/ TERRESTRIAL MOLLUSKS, (2) MARINE MOLLUSKS, and (3) MARINE BIOLOGY. Each of the three collections is to be sold SEPARATELY as a unit via silent auction; with each going to the highest bidder(s). You must place a bid on one or all of the three collections in their entirety- sorry, no bids on individual items. Northeast Natural History & Supply will be overseeing the auction and eventual dispersal of the collection. Offers can be submitted via email to unionid at comcast.net

Works included in these three collections include Agassiz' "Coral Reefs of the Tropical Pacific (the "Albatross Expedition")", "Catalogo de la Malacofauna Antartica Argentina" by Carcelles, Sowerby's "Thesaurus Conchyliorum", Burch's "Freshwater Snails of North America", "Recent Lymnaeidae" by Hubendick, "Molluscan Taxa Described by Tadashige Habe" by Okamoto, Connolly's "Survey of South African Non-Marine Mollusks", all six volumes of Libbie Hyman's "The Invertebrates", an early complete set of "Contributions of the Bermuda Biological Station", as well as a rare signed and dedicated copy of "Disposito Systematica Conchyiarum Terrestrium et Fluviatilium quae Adservantur in Collectione Fratrum Ant. Et Ju Bapt. Villa" by Villa and Villa (1841). As an added bonus, a rare early copy of Darwin's "Geological Observations of the Volcanic Islands.. of South America Visited during the Voyage of the H.M.S. Beagle" in the Marine Biology portion of the collection.

EACH LIST IS AVAILABLE digitally in Portable Document Format (pdf file) upon request by electronic mail (unionid at comcast.net) or in writing to Northeastern Natural History & Supply. BID OFFERS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL FEBRUARY 29TH (Tonight at midnight EST) ONLY.
Bidders will be notified by March 6th.

I encourage you to make an offer on one or all three collections. Good luck to all the bidders.
