With a recently printed label, soaked in ethanol for a few minutes, are you
able to scratch off ink with your fingernail? No. Have tried various
abrasion but have not rubbed or scratched off print. Like Brian, I have
been concerned re: affects of lipids on label but have not (yet) seen any
problems. What make/model of printer do you use? DataMax I Class What
are the heat and print speed settings on the printer? Temperature setting
19 and print speed; Speed setting 6.00 in/sec Which ribbon and paper do
you use? SRD Ribbon 4" X 1182Ft; Datamax 4" x 500 5 mil. white poly tag
from Alpha Systems Who do you order your supplies from? Alpha Systems
Midlothian VA PH. 804.744.9870 We've also had problems with fine white
threads coming off the polyester paper and clogging the print head. Anyone
else experience this? No, not during printing. But if I take a
screwdriver and abrade surface of poly tag can get a fine string.

AMS Comment: a backup tag like the Forbon catalog number tag that some of
us (herps and fishes) have used, for a very long time (40+ years), is
always a good idea as we rotate through different printing
protocol/technology/inks/ and gizmos.
