The 2016 transcription blitz is upon us! Please share….

Fellow natural history enthusiasts:

We write to make you aware of a unique opportunity to continue the work of 19th- & early 20th- century collectors!   The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History (UIMNH) is pleased to invite you to participate in a world-wide virtual transcription event to be held Thursday, October 20 through Monday, October 24. Museum staff have carefully selected a collection of birds’ eggs with handwritten identification cards as the focus of an innovative project to bring the collection and its data into searchable view for researchers, birders, educators, and anyone searching online.  Although rich in information that could yield promising avenues of research, data collected by hand can be difficult to search and analyze.

Through online transcription, you can help make this information available.  At the same time, you’ll enhance your understanding of birds and their nesting habits.
