Hi all,
Vienna based Stoezle Oberglass has a branch in the US:
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.stoelzle.com_en-2Dstoelzle-5Fusa-2D139.html&d=CwID-g&c=-dg2m7zWuuDZ0MUcV7Sdqw&r=CLFZJ3fvGSmDp7xK1dNZfh6uGV_h-8NVlo3fXNoRNzI&m=OJ9ImuMuZIPWjvo0vjYgzU31cX9uGZwqHeH_T3x7mRQ&s=ONsC3X8leYZc6Cd_20OZt75YHbAxjYUdgGW3pBR_d1I&e=
They are producing & supplying European museums with high quality
borosilicate ground stopper jars and have been customising jars for the
Vienna museum for many years. Larger jars have a opening of 20 cm and
are either 40 or 60 cm tall.
It might be worth exploring if it is possible to order these jars via
the New York branch.
The other option that works really well & good (e.g. for stingrays up to
a diameter of 35-40 cm or larger sharks with up to 120 cm) are Schott
borosilicate glass tubes; you only need to find a company that can melt
those tubes (e.g. in Munich there are two companies which offer this
possibility). We have been customising our wide-neck jars for many years
with very good results (excellent monitoring, significant decrease of
evaporation losses).
All the best
Dirk
