***Applications accepted through March 1, 2017***

We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about the PLANTS undergraduate travel award to the BOTANY 2017 meetings June 24-28, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas. This is a wonderful opportunity for undergraduates with interests in any aspect of plant studies to see what it is really all about in a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Funded by the National Science Foundation and Botanical Society of America, the goal of the PLANTS program is to encourage the participation of undergraduates, especially from underrepresented groups, and increase the diversity of future professionals interested in the plant sciences.

The BOTANY 2017 annual national conference encompasses the diverse scope of botanical study, including areas such as systematics, ecology, evolution, conservation, physiology, genetics, development, paleobotany, and economic botany. The PLANTS program funds undergraduate travel awards to the BOTANY 2017 meetings June 24-28, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas. Students are mentored by both peer mentors and professionals and attend scientific sessions and networking events with them. Career-oriented workshops are also offered, on topics such as applying to grad school, careers in botany, etc. Over the past six years, students from a range of institutions and geographic areas and with diverse backgrounds have participated in this program. The program covers the normal costs of travel, registration, and food and accommodation at the meeting. A longer announcement of the program is attached.

Applications are accepted through MARCH 1, 2017 at:
