[Nhcoll-l] fluid specimen and iodine

Hello,

I suggest two papers published by the folks in Austin, Texas (Li et al).
They have developed a method of staining with a solution of potassium,
ethanol and formalin.  Using formalin really helped prevent shrinkage
during the CT scan. They were doing this with museum specimens that had
been first fixed in formalin and then transferred to ethanol.  However,
when I was there visiting we tried it with some samples that were not fixed
in formalin first and those did have shrinking issues, which  required
extensive fiddling by the CT engineer to resolve.
