[Nhcoll-l] Storage of bulk sediment samples

We have a large number of important historic Marine bulk sediment samples that we are looking at re-housing. Currently they are in large snap lock plastic bags but we are aware that these will not be fit for purpose soon and we may lose contents when they are moved - bags degrading and perishing.
Interested in any suggestions on how we can achieve best practice storage of these samples from others who have similar samples in their collections.
