[Nhcoll-l] beetle colony invader

Hi Aren,
I recently had these invaders show up in my colony. I have been working on sorting them out and reestablishing a ham beetle free colony for starters. If that doesn't work we will (unfortunately) have to start from scratch.

Depending on how large your colony is, they may coexist with little harm to the dermestids, but they do feed on dermestid larva and are much more resilient than dermestids with longer life cycles and the fact that they can over-winter. Our colony is on the smaller side, so I decided to give sorting a try before killing them all and starting from scratch. It stinks, but it happens!
Hope this helps a bit.

Hi All,Our dermestid beetle colony has been invaded by the red-legged ham beetle, https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__en.wikipedia.org_wiki_Necrobia-5Frufipes&d=DwIFaQ&c=cjytLXgP8ixuoHflwc-poQ&r=LpYc_Z_iN1KRw0hheb3x6-8MJUMu482qfHowpGYJqwc&m=ZmuF52ya9q7t1K3mXI_Zs2M6E52aDXo01oD_dt22Ee8&s=1Vto6M3arVprX9k9Wkj5e5fVIK8Fi_xw7IwFDBZUeoM&e=. Does anyone have any experience with these guys commingling with their dermestids? Will they kill the dermestids or are they feeding on the skeletons? Thanks,Aren
