[Nhcoll-l] the shipping of wee tiny microfossils (Carrie A. Eaton)

Cyclododecane can be used to stabilize small items for shipment. We use it for shipping fine and very fragile specimens, and it has worked very well when we have used it. Best practice would of course be to ask the owner of the specimens if you are returning material, or if it is held in trust, since you are applying chemicals to the surface. However, pure cyclododecane will sublime completely over time.
