Position Title:  Assistant Collections Manager

Status:  Full time, Non-exempt

 

Summary of Position:  

The Chicago Academy of Sciences/Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum (CAS/PNNM)
seeks a qualified and creative individual to join our Collections team!
The Assistant Collections Manager works closely with the Director of
Collections to effectively manage, preserve, and provide accessibility
to CAS/PNNM's natural history collections and archives. Primary
responsibilities are to continue specimen data and media migration from
the scientific and teaching collections into Arctos

management system, and provide instruction to staff, interns, and
volunteers; georeferencing specimen localities; working with and
supervising a strong volunteer base; assisting with collections
management activities.

 

Position requires strong proficiency with relational databases and
digitization software, experience using OpenRefine to clean data and
GitHub for project management; knowledge of SQL and XML beneficial. Must
have working knowledge of current best practices in museum collection
management. Position is
