Public Lecture on Contemporary Digital Photographic Print Processes and Technology (Adult classes)

Learn more about current digital printing methods and their materials in a lecture on Tuesday April 27, 2021 from 3:00 to 5:00pm. Daniel Burge of the Image Permanence Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, will provide an overview of the history and technology of digital hardcopy printing, its preservation issues, including exhibition and storage, and its current uses in books, 3-D printing, photography and graphic arts. Although this technical lecture is of interest to curators, librarians, archivists, artists and collectors, it is also pertinent to the public who have a deeper interest in the topic or who use digital printing methods for their own art, family photographs, photobooks and albums. This lecture is offered by the Conservation Division of the National Gallery of Art with generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. This virtual lecture is free but requires advance registration.
