Hi Maria,
The museum I just moved from would freeze dry various specimens (mostly insects) for its collections. You should contact Darryl Jeffries or John Early at Auckland Museum for the details. I can only remember John’s email (jearly at aucklandmuseum.com<mailto:jearly at aucklandmuseum.com> …I think Darryl was dsjeffries at aucklandmuseum.com but am not sure).
I have extensive experience with freeze drying archaeological waterlogged wood, but not organisms.

Hi, I was wondering if you have experience with freeze-drying. I am interested in use it with, insects, small reptiles and birds. Is it efficient as a method to preserve small specimens? Has anyone any suggestions on a good model?
