Hey Lennart,
This topic has come up on the list recently. Institutions in the US tend to be using either Buna-N (a kind of synthetic nitrile rubber), or ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) which is another synthetic rubber replacement.
Both have good longevity and track record compared to traditional rubber gaskets, for replacing the gaskets on bail-top jars. If you search the NHColl archive, I believe there were some European list members who sent in manufacturers in Europe.
But hopefully some others closer to you can advise!
