Hello All-

One of our Graduate students is conducting a short survey for her thesis.
If you don't have ornithology collections but have a formal policy or set
of guidelines for managing specimens with recognized cultural significance,
excluding human remains, please email her directly. Thank you in advance
for taking the time to help her out. Here are the details:

"My name is Zara Allen, and I am a Museum Studies graduate student at the
University of San Francisco. I am conducting research for my capstone
thesis and invite you to participate in a short survey.

This survey explores how museums approach the balance between the cultural
value and scientific value of specimens, with a particular focus on endemic
Hawaiian bird species in ornithological collections. The goal is to gain a
deeper understanding of how institutions recognize and integrate cultural
heritage within natural history collections.

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. I would greatly
appreciate it if you could submit your responses *before October 10th, 2025*.
Your responses will provide invaluable insights into current practices
within the field.
