Hi Paul,

which time was this travel? Could be a name of an historic trade post or missionary station, which could be located on historic maps the University of Austin provides online or similar sources online (there are some websites that provide data for historic missionary posts).

Folks,

Here’s a poser: in his account of the zoology of the voyage of the Samarang, Arthur Adams recorded a species from “off Tsaulian.” On the relevant leg of its voyage the Samarang went from the Philippines up through the Bashi islands off Taiwan, over to Miyakojima, up to Okinawa, then on to Jeju (Quelpart) island and touched on the west coast of Korea before returning to Hong Kong. Somewhere along the way they were at “Tsaulian,” but where is/was it? An early thought was “Dalian,” on the Liaotung Peninsula in the Yellow Sea, but they didn’t get that far north.
Any ideas, me dears?
