Hello everyone,
As we approach Juneteenth, a time of reflection, celebration, and collective care, BlackInNHMs invites you to pause, reconnect, and join us for two opportunities to connect with nature, community, and one another during the week of June 14–20, 2026.
🌿 2026 BlackBioBlitz (June 14–20)
The #BlackBioBlitz is a collaborative community science event that encourages participants to spend time outdoors, observe the living world around them, and contribute observations through iNaturalist. This year's BioBlitz is being hosted by Black In Natural History Museums in collaboration with Black Birders, Black Botanists, and H.O.N.E. (Honoring Our Natural Experiences), a community resource group for BIPOC staff and allies at the American Museum of Natural History.
Whether you join a guided event, participate with family and friends, or simply document nature in your own neighborhood, all are welcome.

🗣️ BlackInNHMs Community Conversation
June 15, 2026 | 11:00 AM EST
Join us for a conversation with leaders from H.O.N.E. as they share the story of the group's formation, their journey so far, lessons learned in building community, and their vision moving forward.
Community Conversations are a space for learning, reflection, and dialogue among people working in and adjacent to natural history museums. We welcome BlackInNHMs members, collaborators, allies, students, and anyone interested in fostering more inclusive and supportive communities within our field.
Registration:

Both events are rooted in the belief that connection matters—connection to nature, connection to community, and connection to ourselves. We hope you'll join us for one or both.
