[Nhcoll-l] Storage of pelts

Hello everyone,

There is a thread going through the AAMG listserv about archival work with textiles, and it popped a question into my head about pelts. My museum has a growing collection of pelts of various sizes. Where possible we lay them flat, but for our large mammals they are folded, and we go through and refold them once a year to try and prevent creasing and cracking.
A hanging system is not something that is possible with our space, but I've thought that maybe rolling, as textile collections do (https://museum.gwu.edu/storing-textiles) would be a better option then folding.

Has anyone used rolling for storing their pelt collection? And if so, how did it go?
