In my somewhat limited experience, this right here - bureaucratic as it
may be - can be crucial. No idea is a good idea until and unless both
the EHS and Fire folks are okay with it, and they ideally need to be in
the same room at the same time, having the conversation with you.
Our case in point: something we were doing raised the eyebrows of our
EHS folks, and they were fully prepared to say no, but the Fire official
was standing right next to me and said they saw no real problem - so the
EHS folks said "If they're good with it, then we're good with it".
Everything was fine, despite a close call that would almost certainly
*not* have gone our way if the group meeting had not taken place.
