[Nhcoll-l] Experience with wet-preserved fungi collection

Hello everyone,

My name is Lou Kaiser, I am a Swiss Master’s student specialising in the
conservation and restoration of archaeological and ethnographic objects at
Haute École Arc in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

I am currently preparing my Master’s thesis, which focuses on the
*conservation-restoration
of a wet-preserved fungi* collection at the Botanical Garden of Lausanne.

The project aims to identify and test adhesives and consolidants that could
be compatible with fungal tissues while remaining stable in preservation
fluids. The study will also consider criteria such as reversibility,
effectiveness, accessibility, and ease of application. Depending on the
results, some of the tested materials may eventually be applied to
specimens from the collection.

As part of this research, I would be very interested to hear about your
experience and would like to ask:

- Are there any adhesives or consolidants — whether commonly used in
conservation or from other fields — that you think could be worth testing
on fungal specimens?

-Have you had any experience treating fungi or other wet-preserved
biological specimens?

- If you are interested, would you like me to share the results of the
study once the project is completed?

Any suggestions, references, experiences, or expressions of interest would
be greatly appreciated.
