[Personal_archives] ACA 2009, Calgary AB May 15-17

Hi,
Just a reminder to members of SISPA -- the deadline for proposal submission for ACA 2009 is September 21.  The theme is Rights, Responsibilities, Trust: Archives and Public Affairs.  

Many of the threads from the recent "guest expert" discussion would make interesting sessions, and certainly fit within the broad theme of the conference.  What we collect (and its impact on future research); donor relations; appraisal and restrictions -- all of these fall within the theme of trust and responsibilities. When, if ever, does the private become public?  Have organizational policies or finances had an impact on private collection acquisition?  I think there are numerous possibilities for some interesting and valuable sessions.

Many of the survey comments from last year indicated an interest in trying new session formats, and the program committee is open to the idea.  Submission proposals certainly don't have to be fully formed traditional sessions.

It is shaping up to be a great program, and I do hope members of this list will join in sending proposals.
