Which begs the question... "What was the strangest thing you've found in a
personal fonds?".
(Without breaking any confidences of course) For me it has to be the live
flare found in the personal fonds of a writer for which we had to call in
the bomb defusal team. Or, wait a minute... I did find a caul pressed
between pages of a family bible (neither of which were accepted as part of
the fonds).
My colleague here at LAC found a scientific sample of porcupine tuberculosis
which seemed to relate to the writer's brother.
Aren't all of these indications which serve to show the individuality of
personal fonds creators and the way in which many of them do not make any
distinction between the types of personal property which the professionals
divvy up into "archives", "museums", "art", "memorabilia" and "trash".
