Hello, friends of Saybrook College Orchestra!

TONIGHT, SYO will be kicking off 2010 with our winter concert. Unlike past
winter concerts, however, we are working in conjunction with *Shelter
Now*(read more about Shelter Now below) to put together a fantastic
benefit
concert - great music and a great cause! Please join us as we get together
to play works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Elgar, and Tchaikovsky.

*Shelter Now* is a program of the Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action
Project (YHHAP, http://www.yale.edu/yhhap). In the fall of 2008, Shelter Now
was founded as an emergency campaign after the City of New Haven cut the
Cedar St. Overflow Homeless Shelter (which houses 125 men per winter night)
from the budget. While advocates and service providers search for a
sustainable solution to the shelter crisis, Shelter Now continues to provide
support for the Overflow Shelter. The project has raised nearly $75,000 to
date, and, along with organizations from throughout New Haven, has kept the
Shelter open for two straight winters.
