I agree with you, it looks intrusive. The idea of showing it was so
the dictionary editors could more quickly spot mistakes, e.g. if the
wrong sound file was linked to an entry ... so the decision to show
it was thus to favor a more 'functional' Preview Area at the expense
of some aesthetics. But we do have a (per-document) setting that can
be used to disable the filename display as follows:
- "Dictionary/Properties" menu option
- Select the "Properties [Advanced]" tab at the top of the dialog
- Double-click on the property "Format"/"ShowFileNameForSounds"
- Change the "1" to a "0"
- Click "OK"
You might need to save and re-open the document.
We might well make this off by default in future, or make it easier
or more obvious to hide.
