From nika.zhenya at programando.li Mon Nov 28 15:13:07 2022 From: nika.zhenya at programando.li (Nika Zhenya) Date: Mon, 28 Nov 2022 12:13:07 -0800 Subject: [Tshwanelex-l] PostgreSQL or MySQL Message-ID: Hi, in the user guide I see it is possible to use PostgreSQL or MySQL as ODBC database, but I don't see which one is recommended. So I wanted to ask: 1. Which one is preferred, PostgreSQL or MySQL? 2. For the end-user, which one is easier to configure? Since drives are required and so on. However do take note of this, this is very important, that you may have to do once-off the first time you 'save as ODBC' for each database: https://tshwanedje.com/kb/14 (For the TLex Online online dictionary backend though, we usually work with MySQL as it's traditinoally a bit more commonly available and supported etc. on web server hosting platforms, and was especially when we first implemented TLex Online.) - David On 28 Nov 2022 at 12:13, Nika Zhenya wrote: Date sent: Mon, 28 Nov 2022 12:13:07 -0800 To: tshwanelex-l at mailman.yale.edu From: Nika Zhenya Subject: [Tshwanelex-l] PostgreSQL or MySQL > > Hi, in the user guide I see it is possible to use PostgreSQL or > MySQL as ODBC database, but I don't see which one is recommended. > So I wanted to ask: > * Which one is preferred, PostgreSQL or MySQL? > * For the end-user, which one is easier to configure?
