Hi all,
We are happy to announce new versions of TLex, tlTerm, tlCorpus,
tlDatabase and tlReader featuring integration of the OpenAI API
(ChatGPT that may help speed up your work)
● Improve productivity, and augment lexicography and terminology
production and corpus work with new OpenAI GPT integration (shown
here in the screenshot are entries for small humor dictionaries,
e.g. English - Dutch, automatically generated by #GPT *)
● Use it for checking grammar, creating sample definitions,
examples, sense lists, and much more
● Generate quick 'draft entries' and translations, allowing for more
efficient dictionary compilation across multiple languages
NB: Note that OpenAI integration requires the use of your own OpenAI
"API key" (which you configure in the application settnigs under a
new OpenAI section in the settings), and NB note that this is a
third-party service (we are not responsible for the content
generated, nor affiliated with OpenAI.) These AI language models are
also still research models, and can and do generate incorrect info,
especially with less-frequently-spoken languages, so the content
needs checking, though can nonetheless be very useful to speed up
and augment all language work.
We encourage you to try it out. As always, thank you for your
continued support of TLex. We are dedicated to providing the most
powerful and effective lexicography software available, and feel
OpenAI API integration helps take TLex to the next level.
More improvements and features surrounding this are planned for
upcoming releases
To try the OpenAI integration use the latest version of TLex is now
available for download from our website - for macOS just build .3333
or higher the usual way, i.e. via website download or 'Help / Check
for updates'. For Windows users please try from this line:
https://tshwanedje.com/builds/beta/
Please do purchase technical support from our site if you need
assistance, this helps support us and and helps cover dev costs -
likewise training etc. available to purchase from our site or custom
services like data conversion or help with publishing dictionaries
online etc., thanks
Note that we unfortunately, as it has firstly become increasingly
costly to keep this software maintained each year, as well as to be
able to keep adding new features, and also given it's been an
extremely long time since we charged for upgrades, we unfortunately
are likely to have to start charging an upgrade fee for the latest
new versions (though licenses purchased in the very recent past will
get automatically updraded to the latest). Nobody will lose access
to the software or go backwards in terms of current featureset, but
you might just not get access to all of the latest new features
(e.g. OpenAI integration, with automated and semi-automated
AI-driven or AI-augmented compilation functionality, e.g. base entry
creation). Thanks everyone for the understanding and support.
We're also planning on Python integration, and this new version also
has a low-power mode to help just slightly with battery use if you
often work on battery.
- David
