Dear Friends,
A report on Ulla Dydo's visit last Friday to the group is forthcoming. In the
meantime, I wanted to pass forward the reading planned for the next time we
meet, Fri Nov. 11th. That day, remaining in the Stein vein, we will read from
selections of the Stein reader, edited by Dydo (some copies of which may still
be available in the cardboard box with the group's name etched on it and
located beneath our mailbox in the main office of WHC). After last Friday's
meeting at the Beinecke, this ad hoc selection was settled on:
The portaits running from 449-466; "Composition as Explanation" 493-504;
selections from the poem "Stanzas in Meditation" 568-88; and "Description of
Literature" 471-5. Of course, anything more is fine, but if we all cover at
least that much there should be common ground for discussion. I'm also
including a link to a soundfile of Stein reading her portarit6 of
Picasso--well, worth the spin, as they say.

And so,
