Dear All,

just a reminder that the Working Group in Contemporary Poetics will be meeting
tomorrow for our last session of the semester. We will be joined by Xi Chuan
one of China's most preeminent poets to his discuss his poetry, the issues and
concerns of Chinese contemporary poetry, and the role of the literary avant
garde in China. This is a rare opportunity to talk about Chinese poetry with
one of its most important figures.

There is a packet of materials available at our mailbox in the main office of
the Whitney Humanities Center including a number of translations of Xi Chuan's
work as well as articles about him.

As this will be the last session there will be an announcement of visitors
slated to join ius during the fall semester. How's that for enticement?

The Working Group in Contemporary Poetry and Poetics meets every other Friday
at 3.00 PM in room 116 at the Whitney Humanities Center at Yale University to
discuss problems and issues of contemporary poetry within international
alternative and /or avant-garde traditions of lyric poetry. All are welcome to
attend.

as ever,
Richard Deming, co-coordinator
