Subject: Philosophy of Neuroscience events: Invited Speaker and Discussion panel HQ 276

We have two very exciting neurophilosophy events coming up this week! All events will take place in Humanities Quadrangle (320 York St) Room 276.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 14th at 6 PM, three visiting philosophers will present their work as short lectures, followed by an hour of discussion and dinner. J.P. Gamboa<https://yale.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b04ef1c576332f4626a1db32b&id=ba31eab3a5&e=8691455c16> of the University of Pittsburgh will discuss the metaphysics of multiple realization in the brain, Maximiliana Jewett Rifkin<https://yale.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b04ef1c576332f4626a1db32b&id=99e0b10002&e=8691455c16> of CUNY will discuss how neuroscientists have been thinking about gender, and Nina Van Rooy<https://yale.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b04ef1c576332f4626a1db32b&id=690a0567a5&e=8691455c16> of Duke will discuss whether it makes sense to apply theory of mind to large language models. Join us from 6 PM to 7 PM for the talks only, or stick around until 8 PM for the open discussion and dinner!

On Thursday, June 15th at 12:30 PM, Dr. Matthias Michel, a philosopher from New York University, will present a talk titled "Blindsight is unconscious vision." Michel, known for his extensive work on the cognitive neuroscience of consciousness, will delve into the fascinating phenomenon of blindsight, a condition where patients can respond to visual stimuli they report not consciously perceiving.
