hi friends (sorry if you're getting this multiple times),
i (hakwan lau<https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=RGBSG7EAAAAJ&hl=en>) plan to move to Korea this coming Sept (2024), to co-direct this center<https://www.ibs.re.kr/eng/sub02_06_04.do>, which hosts some of the best neuroimaging facilities in the world (7T MRI for humans & NHPs, 15.2T for rodents), supported by the current director, MR physicists Seong-Gi Kim<https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=LgkGJToAAAAJ&hl=en>
my task is to build several new inter-related research groups at the center. with this, we’ll soon be hiring, at all levels:
* PhD students (to work on human cognitive neuroscience, especially with focus on individual differences in high-level perception and memory)
* Postdocs (w/ funding support potentially available for up to 10 years, and potential opportunities to be internally promoted to become faculty, through open competitions; multiple tenure-track FTEs have been planned with host university SKKU<https://www.skku.edu/eng/index.do>)
* computational neuroimaging (fMRI involving, e.g. real-time/closed-loop multivoxel pattern analysis, network control theory, traveling waves, etc)
* rodent ephys/calcium imaging (perceptual decision-making / neurofeedback / fMRI)
* staff scientist/junior PI (w/ internal funding to support a research group of 2-3 full-time researchers + several phD students. i.e. zero grant writing pressure / teaching duties. also, like the above, with potential opportunities to eventually become tenure-track faculty at SKKU)
* to focus on rodent ephys/calcium imaging (especially on the topic of perceptual decision-making / psychophysics)
* admin staff (no technical background required, but some interests in psychology and brain science, especially perception and aphantasia, would be ideal. ability to organize with attention to details, and excellent communication skills in both English and Korean are necessary)
* technical staff (for brain stimulation, TMS, & fMRI. minimal experience required, but familiarity with computer hardware and programming languages e.g. Python, necessary)
some of these positions can start as soon as Sep 2024, but the reviewing and hiring processes will continue till early 2025.
i hope you don’t mind forwarding this to anyone potentially interested.
for candidates, please use “joining Perceptual Intelligence Laboratories” as the email title, specify which position(s) you’re interested in, and send me your CV to hakwan at gmail.com<mailto:hakwan at gmail.com> for informal enquiries.
thank you,
Hakwan Lau, D.Phil
