Good Afternoon, We are recruiting application reviewers for an annual research competition/symposium for high school students. CT AHEC/UConn Health in Farmington will be sponsoring Connecticut Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (CT-JSHS) on February 22, 2025. It will be the 9th year of our sponsorship. JSHS is designed to challenge and engage students (grades 9-12) in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Individual students compete for scholarships and recognition by presenting the results of their original research efforts before a panel of judges and an audience of their peers. In addition, many students attend as observers. The top 5 presenters will be invited to attend the national symposium in Virginia in April. We invite and encourage you to join the application review team. We are grateful for your time and expertise in support of CT?s high school students. (Student reviewers will receive a small stipend.) Two steps: 1. Read the attached page about the online/self-paced review process in late December/early January and about the symposium in general. (Additional information about the symposium is here.) 2. If you are able to participate as a reviewer, kindly complete this volunteer interest form ASAP (December 4 at latest): https://forms.gle/8kz7SGdVhFjPikHJ9 We hope to recruit a large enough team to make each reviewer?s load light. We hope you can participate and look forward to receiving your completed form. Let us know if you have questions at any time. The deadline to apply is February 23, 2025, at 3:00pm EST, through the Yale fellowship portal. Wu Tsai Undergraduate Fellows conduct research with a Wu Tsai Faculty Member from May 27 ? August 1, 2025. They participate in weekly workshops, seminars, and social events and present their work to the Wu Tsai Community during a closing symposium. We provide a competitive funding package. The program is open to first-years, sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors interested in interdisciplinary neuroscience of relevance to cognition or in neuro-related computing or engineering. Students do not need to have prior research experience before applying. We particularly encourage applications from students from diverse backgrounds or life experiences. ? Applications consist of a CV, a statement of purpose, a diversity and inclusion statement, a letter of recommendation, and the names of up to three Wu Tsai Faculty Members the student would be interested in working with (students can use our Email Template to reach out to prospective faculty). Students who have already pre-identified or are working with a Wu Tsai Faculty Member can also apply. There are also opportunities for Yale graduate students, postbacs and postdocs to contribute to the program as application reviewers, mentors, and program co-leads?we will be sharing these opportunities in future communications. Although advanced tools can measure brain activity with high spatial and temporal precision across scales, interpreting this activity as computational processes remains elusive. I propose a framework that uses generative models of visual categories to interpret the information represented, communicated and computed by brain networks, shedding light on the computations underlying perception. This approach offers meaningful insights into information processing from dynamic brain activity and Deep Neural Network models, advancing the fields of brain imaging and computational neuroscience.
