Please see below for a great postdoc to faculty opportunity.

I talked recently with the program director, who advised the following

  * This grant is most appropriate for senior postdocs/ARS who are ready to start applying to faculty positions at least in the next faculty round.
  * The fellowship does not place a big emphasis on a training plan precisely because the expectation is that the faculty portion of the grant will be activated fairly quickly
  * In fact, the faculty portion can be activated almost immediately after receiving the award, as long as the applicant has not already accepted a formal offer for a tenure-track position
  * No need to do autism or cognitive aging research but you should have vision for how your faculty research will impact those fields, even from basic or fundamental research standpoints
  * The application is really an opportunity for you to put forth your own research vision; think big picture.
  * The program prioritizes individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in science, broadly defined, including women, racial/ethnic groups, LGBTQI+, people with disabilities, and disadvantaged social/economic backgrounds.
  * US citizenship or permanent resident status is not required
  * Among the benefits from the fellowship, in addition to the funds and the incentive for hiring,
     * They help with job offer negotiations and offer advice (coaching)
     * The faculty position can be at international institutions

Please let me know if you plan on applying so I can alert my colleague at Simons and provide advice on the application.

Best,

Giovanna

Subject: Funding Opportunity: Simons Foundation Fellows-to-Faculty Award
Dear Colleagues,

Please share this funding opportunity widely.

Simons Foundation Fellows-to-Faculty Award Program

The Simons Foundation's Autism & Neuroscience division offers the Fellows-to-Faculty Award<https://www.simonsfoundation.org/funding-opportunities/fellows-to-faculty/> program to support talented early-career scientists and their research vision as they transition into tenure-track or equivalent faculty positions.

The request for applications is intended for senior postdoctoral scholars or equivalent researchers whose backgrounds and experiences are underrepresented in science.

For the 2025 RFA, we are seeking scientists whose research vision will advance the mission of either the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI)<https://www.sfari.org/> or the Simons Collaboration on Plasticity and the Aging Brain (SCPAB)<https://www.simonsfoundation.org/collaborations/plasticity-and-the-aging-brain/>. We welcome applications from scientists with a previous background in these areas and those newly applying their expertise to these areas.

Awardees receive funding toward the end of their postdoctoral career and a commitment of a $600,000 USD faculty research grant. Fellows may activate the award funding at institutions within or outside the United States. Applications are due by January 14, 2025.
