*About the Speaker: *Professor Michael Weisberg is the Bess W. Heyman
President's Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of
Pennsylvania, where he also serves as Deputy Director of Perry World House.
A renowned philosopher of science and climate policy expert, Professor
Weisberg has made significant contributions to both academic discourse and
international climate negotiations. His work on the philosophy of science,
particularly in modeling and idealization, has influenced fields ranging
from biology to chemistry. As a climate diplomat, he has advised several
nations on climate policy and played a key role in developing innovative
frameworks for addressing climate change impacts. Professor Weisberg is
also the Editor-in-Chief of Biology and Philosophy and the director of the
Galรกpagos Education and Research Alliance, demonstrating his commitment to
bridging theoretical philosophy with real-world environmental challenges.
